The Lighthouse is now open 7 days a week for tours from Memorial Day through Labor Day. They also have a Keeper program. You get to stay at the lighthouse for a week and help give tours etc. There is a fee and you have to be 18 or older, but it is a great peaceful place to get away

depending on what part of n.c. you are in, you might like sonoma wine country. you can go to armstrong woods for a beautiful walk and picnic in the redwoods (like muir woods but much less crowded). then drive around guerneville and towards healdsburg and do some winetasting if that’s your thing. the drycreek area, between guerneville and healdsburg, is lovely.

from your example, your definition of outdoor acTVT is spending time surrounded by nature. IMPOSSIBLE. the whole valley is developed. the rivers are brown, forest flatten, the mountains are lime stones(soft), the air is filled with smoke. klang & kinta valley are dedicated for bussiness & industry.

if nature you want, here are my suggestion:
-Cameron highland
-national park(pahang, klantan terengganu)
-Borneo

The problem is, if you have a cold sore, a cut etc in your mouth, you will get the snake venow into it and you can get really ill, or yes, even die. Better to carry a “sting kit” in your pack/vehicle. You can get them at most hiking and sporting goods stores. They have constriction bands (NOT A TOURNIQUET!!) and a suction device for venom extraction, as well as treatment for bee, wasp, spider/scorpion etc. AND, they are cheap to buy. Oh, and unless your more than an hour away from medical help, don’t cut a snake bite. And if you do, don’t cut an X or across the affected area, make a short vertical cut only.

Joaquin Miller park in the Oakland hills is free and beautiful. Roberts park has a pool too, as well as hiking trails. Take 35th avenue straight up the hill, past hwy 580 , 13 and the Safeway, go left at the ‘top’ on skyline blvd, then turn right about 1/4 mile down into JM Park. Redwood park is another option – up 35th as before, then if you continue straight past skyline, and go about 5 miles(or less) there is Redwood Park on the left.
